Leflore County Board of Supervisors

The Board of Supervisors is the governing body of Leflore County. It consists of five members elected by the people every four years. The Board generally meets three times each month at the Court House.

The Board heard a presentation from jail consultant Ed Hargett. The Sheriff brought forward a proposal regarding a grant for new bulletproof vests. A discussion took place regarding Itta Bena's failure to pay for garbage collection and law enforcement protection, now owing around $68,000. The Board voted to schedule a meeting with Itta Bena officials to find out what the problem is. The Board voted on some matters relating to a GO Refunding Bond issue. The Board went into Executive Session to discuss the Blue Neal suit against the county that has been going on since 2006. The Board Attorney is to work on settling the case. Robert Moore brought up his desire to ignore Confederate Memorial Day in the future, and the Board Attorney will look into whether it is legal to do so.
