The Greenwood City Council is the legislative body that governs the city of Greenwood. The executive power is held by a Mayor who is elected by the people every four years, along with the seven council members. The City Council generally meets twice each month at the City Hall.

The Council held its regular hearing on dilapidated properties. Rev. Johnathan Hopkin presented a complaint about an incident with the city police. Another discussion regarding placing speed bumps took place. The Council voted to purchase the sign in the city park erected by Ainsworth Sign Company for the Balloon festival. The Council approved employing a law firm to issue GO Bonds to refund the 2002 Milwaukee Tool project bond issue. A discussion took place regarding the need for a meeting with the Hospital Board to discuss its financial situation.
