The Greenwood City Council is the legislative body that governs the city of Greenwood. The executive power is held by a Mayor who is elected by the people every four years, along with the seven council members. The City Council generally meets twice each month at the City Hall.

The Council discussed the old Choctaw and Uniek properties which the city has purchased regarding what uses they might be put to. The Council passed a resolution authorizing work to be done in moving a fiber cable in preparation for the railroad relocation project. The Council approved a certificate of appropriateness for proposed changes to the facade of the downtown store owned by Finchers. A discussion was held regarding the desirability of increased evening lighting of the downtown buildings. The Council approved the funding of the annual Christmas Parade. A discussion was held regarding staging and traffic related to the parade.
