The Greenwood City Council is the legislative body that governs the city of Greenwood. The executive power is held by a Mayor who is elected by the people every four years, along with the seven council members. The City Council generally meets twice each month at the City Hall.

The Council heard input from businessmen on Park Avenue relating to the need to widen the road to improve traffic flow. The Council heard a presentation from veterans and others relating to the naming of the new connector road after Sgt John Pittman, a local Congressional Medal of Honor winner.
