The Greenwood City Council is the legislative body that governs the city of Greenwood. The executive power is held by a Mayor who is elected by the people every four years, along with the seven council members. The City Council generally meets twice each month at the City Hall.

This meeting was delayed by one week due to the party primaries. The Council held its first abandoned vehicle hearing; a continuance was granted to Walter Leonard while he tries to bring his vehicles into compliance with the junk car ordinance. The Council approved the final vote approving the StaplCotn tax exemption. Several permits to rehab historic buildings were approved. A subdivision of a 4 acre parcel in North Greenwood was approved. Donations to the Greenwood Lady North Stars and the 4th of July celebration committee were approved. At the end of the meeting, George Ellis served papers on David Jordan to examine the ballot boxes used in the Democrat primary for ward 6 council member.
