The Greenwood City Council is the legislative body that governs the city of Greenwood. The executive power is held by a Mayor who is elected by the people every four years, along with the seven council members. The City Council generally meets twice each month at the City Hall.

The regular meeting was delayed by a week due to the party primary run-off elections that took place last week. The Council approved a proposal by Marion Howard and the Tree Board to apply for a grant to landscape the underpass at the south entrance to the city. Debbie Oxnam was appointed to the city school board, with Mr. Jordan and Mrs. Perkins abstaining. Various bids were accepted and advertized. The Council agreed to support a CAP loan in favor of Viking for the renovation and expansion of the old Rocky Manufacturing facility.
