The Greenwood City Council is the legislative body that governs the city of Greenwood. The executive power is held by a Mayor who is elected by the people every four years, along with the seven council members. The City Council generally meets twice each month at the City Hall.

The Council adopted Resolutions to begin the process of floating a $3.5 Million bond issue for street, sidewalk, parks, utilities, etc. The Council approved appointments of department heads, including Henry Harris as Police Chief. The Council tabled the appointment of a city judge, after the Mayor nominated W. M. Sanders to replace current city court judge James Littleton.
