The Greenwood City Council is the legislative body that governs the city of Greenwood. The executive power is held by a Mayor who is elected by the people every four years, along with the seven council members. The City Council generally meets twice each month at the City Hall.

The Mayor presented a proclamation establishing October 1 as "Myrna Colley-Lee Day". The Council heard a proposal from Main Street regarding landscaping the Main Street entrance. The Council received reports from Viking Range Corporation on various new projects. The Council finally approved the 2006 fiscal year budget and property tax levy. The Council finally approved the appointment of W. M. Sanders as Municipal Court Judge. The Council authorized the issuance of General Obligation Bonds.
