The Greenwood City Council is the legislative body that governs the city of Greenwood. The executive power is held by a Mayor who is elected by the people every four years, along with the seven council members. The City Council generally meets twice each month at the City Hall.

The Council heard a presentation from Robert Fitzpatrick, Director of the Juvenile Detention Center, who requested that the city provide financial assistence to the Center for the education of the delinquent children in custody. The Council considered a resolution to purchase new police cars. The Council approved a contribution to pay for Christmas decorations and to support the Christmas parade. Several zoning variances were granted to landowners.
