The Greenwood City Council is the legislative body that governs the city of Greenwood. The executive power is held by a Mayor who is elected by the people every four years, along with the seven council members. The City Council generally meets twice each month at the City Hall.

The Council heard a presentation from Tommy Gregory regarding a Home Grant for downpayment assistance. A presentation was made regarding a new furniture factory and the rental of the old Uniek/Picture Frame building now owned by the city. The Mayor and Senator David Jordan disputed about the effects on city revenue of the proposed sales tax changes on cigarettes and food.
