The Greenwood City Council is the legislative body that governs the city of Greenwood. The executive power is held by a Mayor who is elected by the people every four years, along with the seven council members. The City Council generally meets twice each month at the City Hall.

The Council adopted a Resolution honoring Municipal Clerk's Week. The Council adopted the 2006 national building codes. The Council authorized a contract for Lavoie and Associates to advise on the problems of the police department. The Council adopted various tax incentives and a grant application for Raybestos, an industry opening in Greenwood. The Council went into Executive Session to discuss the police department investigation.
