The Greenwood City Council is the legislative body that governs the city of Greenwood. The executive power is held by a Mayor who is elected by the people every four years, along with the seven council members. The City Council generally meets twice each month at the City Hall.

The Council opened bids, and then sold $2 million in GO bonds for street and park repair work. The City voted to approve a rezoning request for the construction of a new nursing home facility. Mr. Charles Cooley presented a request for funding for youth activity programs. James Bennett from Adelphia Cable came to answer questions about the temporary extention of the franchise agreement until the sale to Time Warner is completed.
