The Greenwood City Council is the legislative body that governs the city of Greenwood. The executive power is held by a Mayor who is elected by the people every four years, along with the seven council members. The City Council generally meets twice each month at the City Hall.

The Council held its monthly hearing on dilapidated properties. The Council heard a presentation from county officials on their request for city funding for the Civic Center. The Council received and certified the budget for the Greenwood Public School District. A number of property tax exemptions were approved. The Council confirmed Jewel Carpenter, Maryann Stanton, and Tony Johnson to serve as the Greenwood Municipal Election Commission.
