The Greenwood City Council is the legislative body that governs the city of Greenwood. The executive power is held by a Mayor who is elected by the people every four years, along with the seven council members. The City Council generally meets twice each month at the City Hall.

The Council considered a request from a real estate developer to issue bonds to build a road through the developer's proposed subdivision. A debate took place over whether the Mayor should be designated to authorize emergency purchases. The First Baptist Church was granted a variance for the building of a Family Life Center. Tom Tollison presented materials relating to the upgrade to the wastewater treatment plant and pump station.
