The Greenwood City Council is the legislative body that governs the city of Greenwood. The executive power is held by a Mayor who is elected by the people every four years, along with the seven council members. The City Council generally meets twice each month at the City Hall.

The Council opened bids for the official depository of city banking accounts. Several presentations from the public relating to tree planting and various summer youth leagues were heard. Numerous reappointments were made to various city boards and committees. A complaint was heard from home owners in Ward 4 against the new low income housing project being constructed at the end of Mississippi Avenue.
