The Greenwood City Council is the legislative body that governs the city of Greenwood. The executive power is held by a Mayor who is elected by the people every four years, along with the seven council members. The City Council generally meets twice each month at the City Hall.

The Council heard a presentation from Tom Person regarding the controversial public housing project being constructed in Ward 4. Mr. Frank Smith presented a complaint of unequal treatment by Police Chief Henry Harris relating to the requirement for liability insurance before rallies or parades may be held. Mr. Smith called for the removal of Chief Harris from his position. Several zoning variances were granted. A discussion was held regarding obtaining bids for the Park Avenue widening project.
