The Council took care of some left-over dilapidated housing matters. The Council unanimously enacted an ordinance banning smoking in almost all privately owned businesses, forcing business owners to advertise the restrictions at their own cost, and compelling them to make public statements to their customers to perpetrate the ban. Several routine contracts and service agreements were approved. Four tax exemptions were approved for Viking, Milwaukee Tools, and Raybestos.
