The Greenwood City Council is the legislative body that governs the city of Greenwood. The executive power is held by a Mayor who is elected by the people every four years, along with the seven council members. The City Council generally meets twice each month at the City Hall.

The Council heard Bardin Redditt, airport manager, regarding the need for the city to agree to provide local matching funds for a proposed $600,000 grant. Tom Tollison, engineer for the sewer renewal projects, made a change order presentation. Citizens for Justice and Representation, made up of Ward 4 residents, made presentations opposing the approval of the subdivision plat for median-income housing next to their neighborhood. The Council approved appointments to the positions of city attorney, city court judge, prosecutor, and other positions for another year. The Council unanimously approved the subdivision plat for the median-income houses. The Council approved a special exception to build a homeless shelter on Johnson St. Several other exceptions, bids and change orders were also approved.
