The Greenwood City Council is the legislative body that governs the city of Greenwood. The executive power is held by a Mayor who is elected by the people every four years, along with the seven council members. The City Council generally meets twice each month at the City Hall.

The Council adopted a Memorandum of Understanding with MVSU. Staplcotn requested approval to place an awning on its building in the Historical District, which the Council approved. A number of appointments to city boards were approved. The City requested the assistance of the County to remove debris from a demolished commercial warehouse site.
