The Greenwood City Council is the legislative body that governs the city of Greenwood. The executive power is held by a Mayor who is elected by the people every four years, along with the seven council members. The City Council generally meets twice each month at the City Hall.

The Council voted to hire Willie Perkins to represent the five members who were sued by Mayor McAdams in the city attorney flap. Some discussion took place about the appropriateness of paying several thousand dollars in costs for a picnic that was held for then-Mayor Perkins' Youth Council.
