The Greenwood City Council is the legislative body that governs the city of Greenwood. The executive power is held by a Mayor who is elected by the people every four years, along with the seven council members. The City Council generally meets twice each month at the City Hall.

The regular monthly hearing for dilapidated property was held. The members of the Election Commission were appointed, as well as several other board memberships. Phil Wolfe's appointment to the Advisory Board for Disability and Relief for Firemen and Policemen was held up for an Attorney General's opinion on possible separation of powers issues. The Council adopted a resolution opposing merger of MVSU with other institutions as proposed by the Governor.
