The Greenwood City Council is the legislative body that governs the city of Greenwood. The executive power is held by a Mayor who is elected by the people every four years, along with the seven council members. The City Council generally meets twice each month at the City Hall.

The Council voted to accept the city school board's budget. Mr. Jennings and Mrs. Cookston voted against the resolution, saying they had questions about the budget, but no representative of the school board was present to answer them. Mr. Joseph reported progress on the budget for next year, saying he hoped there would be no increase in tax rates. Representatives of the new cable company reported that there was no rate hike planned. The Mayor reported that some $832,000 in STP funds would be used to repair various streets in the city.
