The Greenwood City Council is the legislative body that governs the city of Greenwood. The executive power is held by a Mayor who is elected by the people every four years, along with the seven council members. The City Council generally meets twice each month at the City Hall.

The Council held its regular hearing on dilapidated properties. Several proclamations honoring the area schools were adopted. The appropriation to Main Street was approved. Money to pay for drug court personnel was approved. The Council voted to request the state legislature to re-authorize the Convention and Visitors Bureau and the 1% sales tax that supports it.
