The Greenwood City Council is the legislative body that governs the city of Greenwood. The executive power is held by a Mayor who is elected by the people every four years, along with the seven council members. The City Council generally meets twice each month at the City Hall.

The Delta Health Alliance made a presentation to the council. The Museum of the Mississippi Valley also presented its funding request. The Council voted to change the water rates and rearranged the calculation for building permits. Tax Exemptions were approved for Milwaukee Tool and Delta Oil Mill. Several grants were applied for, and some Industrial Park property was sold to APAC-MS.
