The Greenwood City Council is the legislative body that governs the city of Greenwood. The executive power is held by a Mayor who is elected by the people every four years, along with the seven council members. The City Council generally meets twice each month at the City Hall.

The Council heard a presentation about the July 4th Stars and Stripes celebration. Several department heads and others were reappointed to their positions. A settlement in the Vernon Ricks litigation regarding the Airport was approved. The Council went into executive session to discuss the Lou lawsuit against the city and police officers for civil rights violations.
