The Greenwood City Council is the legislative body that governs the city of Greenwood. The executive power is held by a Mayor who is elected by the people every four years, along with the seven council members. The City Council generally meets twice each month at the City Hall.

The Council heard a presentation from Bardin Redditt, airport manager, about the need for a contract to cut tall trees on property located near the airport. The Council gave pay raises to the legal department members, including the city judge, and to the council's clerk. Mrs. Cookston spoke extensively against the raise for the council's clerk.
