The Greenwood City Council is the legislative body that governs the city of Greenwood. The executive power is held by a Mayor who is elected by the people every four years, along with the seven council members. The City Council generally meets twice each month at the City Hall.

The Council heard an update on the Christmas parade from Beth Stevens. An AT&T representative requested permission to bury some fiber optic cables. The regular monthly hearing on dilapidated properties was held. The Council approved renewing the city's lease with the Leflore County Missionary Baptist Association.
