The Greenwood City Council is the legislative body that governs the city of Greenwood. The executive power is held by a Mayor who is elected by the people every four years, along with the seven council members. The City Council generally meets twice each month at the City Hall.

Troy Brown, Emergency Management director, addressed the council. The Council voted to pay the Chamber of Commerce $7500 for the Christmas decoration upkeep and parade fund. George Ellis was reappointed to a full term on the school board. Orion Planning was hired to help rewrite the zoning ordinances to further strip property owners of their rights. The council voted to ask for a local and private bill to transfer the Katrina Cottages to the Fuller Center.
