The Greenwood City Council is the legislative body that governs the city of Greenwood. The executive power is held by a Mayor who is elected by the people every four years, along with the seven council members. The City Council generally meets twice each month at the City Hall.

The Council held a hearing on renewal of the cable franchise agreement with Suddenlink. Bob Barber, the zoning ordinance consultant, gave a presentation. The regular monthly hearing on dilapidated properties was held. A new vacation policy for city employees was adopted. Eddie Curry was confirmed as Director of the Waste Water Treatment Plant Division. Anne Marie Kornelis was confirmed as Director of Greenwood Leflore Recycling. Resolutions regarding repaving an alley, accepting the donation of property, and donating money were also adopted.
