The Greenwood City Council is the legislative body that governs the city of Greenwood. The executive power is held by a Mayor who is elected by the people every four years, along with the seven council members. The City Council generally meets twice each month at the City Hall.

The Council held its regular monthly hearing on dilapidated properties. Miss Hospitality Ashley Griffin made a presentation with the GCVB.
The Council voted unanimously to repeal the 1963 ordinance that banned ridicule of police and firemen. The ordinance was originally passed to suppress civil rights protests.
The Board granted a 10 year tax exemption to Milwaukee Electric Tool Corporation for its recent expansion.
