The Greenwood City Council voted to remove the state flag from all city buildings and properties.

Council member David Jordan made the motion to remove the flag. The council members had about 15 minutes of cordial discussion.

The vote was 6 in favor and 1 opposed. Johnny Jennings cast the sole vote against the resolution.

The meeting room was filled to capacity. Members of the public were not allowed to address the council on the subject. One or two audience members held up pro-flag signs. The audience was well behaved and sat quietly during the debate and vote.

The Council voted to approve the Hospital Board going forward with the purchase of a residence on River Road for use as office space.
