The Board of Aldermen met to conduct the city's business. Mayor Thelma Collins presided over the meeting. An attempt to recess the meeting until the next day to handle the thorny issue of paying the county the money owed for sheriff's department patrols fell through when Mayor Collins and several other members failed to attend the meeting, depriving it of a quorum to do business.
