The Greenwood City Council is the legislative body that governs the city of Greenwood. The executive power is held by a Mayor who is elected by the people every four years, along with the seven council members. The City Council generally meets twice each month at the City Hall.

The Council heard a presentation from Brantley Snipes about the Que on the Yazoo barbeque festival. Allan Hammons presented information about the upcoming Air Show at the Greenwood Leflore Airport. The monthly hearing on dilapidated properties was held. Bids and advertisements for bids were approved. The Council voted to enter into a license marketing agreement with Service Line Warranties of America. An agreement between the city and Milwaukee Tool regarding an expansion project was approved.
