The council held its regular monthly meeting. Hospital Board Chairman Sammy Foster, the sole remaining city appointee to the Hospital Board of Commissioners, was grilled about the hospital's future, and about why the Board did not act on the UMMC proposals to provide management and medical services affiliation. The Council approved a zoning variance to permit the construction of a funeral home on John Pittman Drive. The Council heard a proposal for debt collection services, but took no action.
