The Greenwood City Council is the legislative body that governs the city of Greenwood. The executive power is held by a Mayor who is elected by the people every four years, along with the seven council members. The City Council generally meets twice each month at the City Hall.

The Council held its regular monthly meeting. Loretta McClee appeared to discuss the Violence Rally. John Ray provided an update on the Blues and Catfish festival. The Council heard a presentation on the cleanup day and on the Que on the Yazoo barbecue contest. The council approved two police department matters regarding surplus property and a community partnership.
