The Greenwood City Council is the legislative body that governs the city of Greenwood. The executive power is held by a Mayor who is elected by the people every four years, along with the seven council members. The City Council generally meets twice each month at the City Hall.

A presentation was made about the upcoming 2020 census. A collection agency presented a proposal to collect overdue fines. Lance Mohamed presented the 2017-2018 Audit. A presentation for the upcoming CVBG budget was given. A discussion was held regarding repeal of the unconstitutional panhandling city ordinance, but no action was taken. A discussion led by Johnny Jennings took place about illegal climate controlled storage units; Mayor McAdams stated that John Frazier has been cited for constructing illegal units, and he will be required to tear them down.
