The Greenwood City Council is the legislative body that governs the city of Greenwood. The executive power is held by a Mayor who is elected by the people every four years, along with the seven council members. The City Council generally meets twice each month at the City Hall.

The Council held its regular monthly hearing on dilapidated properties. Appointments were made to the Historic Preservation Commission. The budget and tax levy for fiscal year 2020 were approved. The Council voted to declare its intention to issue up to $7 million in general obligation bonds.
