Greenwood City Council

The Greenwood City Council is the legislative body that governs the city of Greenwood. The executive power is held by a Mayor who is elected by the people every four years, along with the seven council members. The City Council generally meets twice each month at the City Hall.

The City Council held its regular monthly hearing on dilapidated properties. Frederick Smith asked the council to rename streets for Norman Smith and Hampton Smith. Dudley Pleasants presented a proposal to purchase UAV drones to assist first responders. The Council authorized the Mayor to proceed with the Blight Elimination Program Grant. A salary increase was approved for certain city employees. Money was approved to match a grant to make improvements on the Airport Road.
