The Greenwood City Council is the legislative body that governs the city of Greenwood. The executive power is held by a Mayor who is elected by the people every four years, along with the seven council members. The City Council generally meets twice each month at the City Hall.

The council held its regular monthly hearing on dilapidated properties. Naomi Jones presented concerns about repairs to the library roof. Several citizens rose to express concerns about violence in the community. The Council voted to join in a resolution to oppose the passage of Initiative 65 to legalize medical marijuana. A resolution to amend the Code of Ordinances regarding junked vehicles was taken up.
