The Greenwood City Council is the legislative body that governs the city of Greenwood. The executive power is held by a Mayor who is elected by the people every four years, along with the seven council members. The City Council generally meets twice each month at the City Hall.

The Council held its regular monthly hearing on dilapidated properties. A presentation was heard regarding funding for scholarships at MVSU. A resolution donating $6000 to MVSU for scholarships was presented. A donation of $250 was proposed for the annual Black History Month parade.
A presentation was made by C-spire about bringing fiber network service to Greenwood.
