The Greenwood City Council is the legislative body that governs the city of Greenwood. The executive power is held by a Mayor who is elected by the people every four years, along with the seven council members. The City Council generally meets twice each month at the City Hall.

The council heard a presentation from Dr. Jerryl Briggs and Jean Cadney regarding MVSU. The council approved purchase of uniforms from Mid-south Uniforms and Supply. A donation of $2500 to the air show was approved. A contract to change internet providers to C-spire was approved. Fred T. Neely and Company was reappointed as the city auditor. The council discussed an ordinance regarding the placement of cameras in apartment complexes and convenience stores.
