The Greenwood City Council is the legislative body that governs the city of Greenwood. The executive power is held by a Mayor who is elected by the people every four years, along with the seven council members. The City Council generally meets twice each month at the City Hall.

The council heard a presentation from Chris Watson about possible annexation plans. Robert Beasley came to discuss a dangerous intersection at Threadgill and the Hwy 82 frontage road. The council adopted an ordinance approving and regulating the production and sale of medical marijuana. Numerous appointments/reappointments to various city boards were approved. The council approved Willis Engineering to handle the water and sewer grant program. The council went into executive session for 23 minutes to discuss possible annexation and potential litigation.
