The Greenwood City Council is the legislative body that governs the city of Greenwood. The executive power is held by a Mayor who is elected by the people every four years, along with the seven council members. The City Council generally meets twice each month at the City Hall.

The council heard from Brantley Snipes who introduced the new Main Street Director, Elizabeth Liddell.
The council voted to authorize the Airport Board to apply for and accept an FAA grant to rehabilitate the airport apron.
The council voted to table the resolution rejecting all bids for sale or lease of Greenwood Leflore Hospital, after it turned out that several members had not been told of such plans, and had not actually reviewed the bids.
The council voted to accept a bid from Trustmark Bank to provide financing for several pieces of solid waste garbage equipment.
