The Greenwood City Council is the legislative body that governs the city of Greenwood. The executive power is held by a Mayor who is elected by the people every four years, along with the seven council members. The City Council generally meets twice each month at the City Hall.

The council approved numerous reappointments to the CVBG and to the Planning Commission.
The council went into executive session to discuss the pending litigation by the Leflore County Board of Supervisors against the city of Greenwood and Fire Chief Marcus Banks regarding the dispute over the joint appointment to the Greenwood Leflore Hospital Board of Trustees.
