The Greenwood City Council is the legislative body that governs the city of Greenwood. The executive power is held by a Mayor who is elected by the people every four years, along with the seven council members. The City Council generally meets twice each month at the City Hall.

The Council heard complaints from citizens opposed to the new boat landing proposed to be built along the Yazoo River. Representatives from Time-Warner and Adelphia Cable appeared to discuss the transfer of the cable television franchise. Bill Clay made a presentation relating to a summer youth league.
