The Greenwood Election Commission held a hearing on a petition filed by Sheriel Perkins challenging the independent candidacy of Curressia Brown for Mayor. Mrs. Perkins was represented by her husband Willie Perkins Sr., while Mrs. Brown was represented by Jackson attorney John Reeves. The Commission took the matter under advisement, but the next day issued an order removing Mrs. Brown from the ballot due to its finding that she is not a resident of the city of Greenwood. The Greenwood Election Commisssion members are Shirley Cooper (Chair), Elizabeth Powers, and John H. Johnson.
