The Greenwood City Council is the legislative body that governs the city of Greenwood. The executive power is held by a Mayor who is elected by the people every four years, along with the seven council members. The City Council generally meets twice each month at the City Hall.

The Council met to organize for the new term. Ronnie Stevenson and David Jordan were elected president and vice-president respectively. The Council held its monthly hearing on dilapidated properties. The Council rejected Mayor McAdams' nominee for city attorney, the law firm of Abraham and Rideout, on a 5 to 2 vote.
