The Greenwood City Council is the legislative body that governs the city of Greenwood. The executive power is held by a Mayor who is elected by the people every four years, along with the seven council members. The City Council generally meets twice each month at the City Hall.

A Suddenlink Cable spokesman came to present the company's concerns regarding the extremely high rate of cable theft and loss of subscribers. The Council authorized the purchase of several vehicles. An appropriation to the Chamber of Commerce was approved for the Christmas decorations. The Council voted to install GPS locator beacons on all the city-owned vehicles. The contract for lighting on Howard Street was awarded to Kenneth Thompson Builders.
