The Greenwood City Council is the legislative body that governs the city of Greenwood. The executive power is held by a Mayor who is elected by the people every four years, along with the seven council members. The City Council generally meets twice each month at the City Hall.

The Council heard from the Chamber of Commerce about the Great American Clean-up and from Bardin Redditt regarding Airport Board matters. Some dilapidated property matters were handled. The Council discussed the Mayor's proposed sign ordinance. Purchase of police vehicles was approved. A large number of appointments to boards and commissions were approved. The Council authorized the hospital to purchase a clinic in Itta Bena.
