The Greenwood City Council is the legislative body that governs the city of Greenwood. The executive power is held by a Mayor who is elected by the people every four years, along with the seven council members. The City Council generally meets twice each month at the City Hall.

The Council voted 4 to 2 to increase its pay from $13,440 per year to $16,500, a 22.7% increase. David Jordan and Johnny Jennings voted against the pay increase; Charles McCoy, Ronnie Stevenson, Carl Palmer, and Tennill Cannon voted for it. Lisa Cookston was absent. Only David Jordan spoke out publicly against the increase during the meeting.
The Council reappointed 20 persons to various boards and commissions.
The Council approved placing speed bumps in certain areas.
